The surface on the big concrete table to one side in Chan's Gourmet Delicatessen and Cafe is constantly changing. As it wears, some of the mung beans, rice and tea leaves mixed into the concrete begin to show.

Owner, Daniel Chan, dreamed up the idea for a true foodie's table. In the six months the cafe has been open the table has become a work site (there is a power point for laptops), a place to meet people and a communal dining area.

The cafe is Chan's first foray into the dining industry (he was in the fitness business) and it is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm, sunday 8am to 6pm.

It is a cafe and deli but Chan hopes to eventually build it into a concept store which also sells gifts.
